Dietitian Clinic

At Brain and Mind Hub, our Dietitian Team provides evidence informed support for individuals exploring the connection between nutrition, brain health and mental wellbeing.

Our Dietitian Team at the Brain and Mind Hub supports individuals to understand the powerful connection between what we eat and how we feel, think, and function.

Using evidence-based principles of nutritional psychiatry and lifestyle medicine, our dietitian works alongside you to optimise brain and mental health, metabolism, and overall wellbeing.

This is not about dieting. It’s about understanding how food choices influence your gut, your brain chemicals, and the systems that keep your mind balanced and body resilient.

Why see a Dietitian?

You might work with our Dietitian if you are:

  • Living with anxiety, depression, ADHD or another neurodevelopmental or mood condition
  • Experiencing disordered eating / eating disorder
  • Experiencing low energy, sleep difficulties, brain fog or mood swings
  • Wanting to support your brain and metabolic health preventatively
  • Looking for a deeper understanding of how to eat for a healthier brain and nervous system

The Gut-Brain Connection

Your gut and brain are in constant communication via the gut-brain axis. What you eat directly influences this conversation by shaping the gut microbiome—the trillions of microbes living in your digestive system.

These microbes:

  • Help produce mood-regulating neurotransmitters like GABA (calming) and glutamate (stimulating), serotonin and dopamine.
  • Influence inflammation in the brain and body
  • Support the production of BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor), which helps the brain grow, adapt and heal
  • Affect insulin resistance, energy metabolism, and mental clarity

When your gut is out of balance due to poor diet, stress or illness, this can disrupt brain function and mood regulation.

What Impacts Brain Health Nutritionally?

Our dietitian explores how everyday food choices affect key brain and body systems, such as:

Gut Microbiome Health

A diverse, fibre-rich diet helps grow beneficial bacteria that improve mood and reduce inflammation.

Neurotransmitter Balance

B-vitamins, magnesium, omega 3 fatty acids, zinc and amino acids.

Oxidative Stress

Antioxidants from fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices protect the brain from cellular damage.

Inflammation

Processed foods can increase inflammation, while whole foods like oily fish, nuts, seeds and fruits and vegetables can reduce it.

BDNF

Omega-3s, polyphenols, and regular meal rhythms support neuroplasticity and emotional resilience.

Insulin sensitivity

Stable blood sugar from low glycaemic, unprocessed foods supports mood, focus and energy levels.
