Jules is a neuroscience researcher committed to bridging neuro-imaging and clinical practice for real-world impact utilising biomarkers, such as electroencephalography (EEG), to understand brain dynamics and inform mental health treatment innovation. Jules holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science (First Class Honours), a Master of Neuroscience, and recently submitted his PhD at the Thompson Institute, Sunshine Coast.

Areas of expertise:

EEG acquisition and analysis

Neurofeedback and TMS treatment

Biomarkers of treatment response in depression and suicidality

Bayesian statistics and mixed-effects modelling

His work sits at the intersection of cognitive neuroscience, clinical psychiatry, and advanced EEG analysis, with a focus on non-linear brain dynamics and systems-level approaches to understand and predict treatment outcomes.

Jules’ research explores EEG biomarkers as predictors of treatment response in depression and suicidality. His doctoral work focuses on understanding how brain activity and connectivity patterns relate to response to oral ketamine treatment, with the goal of contributing to precision psychiatry and advancing EEG’s clinical utility.

Jules has contributed to several publications across areas such as ketamine pharmacotherapy, neurometabolic markers in eating disorders, exercise effects on cognition in ageing, and the neurobiological impacts of cyberbullying. He is also an experienced EEG, neurofeedback, and transcranial magnetic stimulation technician, and is proficient in neuroimaging analysis.

He adopts a collaborative, analytical, and systems-thinking approach to neuroscience, bringing over five years of academic and research experience across institutions including The University of Queensland,

The Queensland Brain Institute, and The Thompson Institute.
