Temily is a dedicated peer support worker with extensive lived experience in navigating a range of mental health challenges, including eating disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD, self-harm, neurodivergence, and substance misuse.
Specialising in eating disorder recovery, she is passionate about helping others achieve full recovery through her unique blend of empathy, clinical insight, and lived experience.
In her role, Temily supports both clients and their support networks by guiding them through various recovery-oriented challenges. These include reframing thoughts, challenging eating disorder beliefs and rules, dialoguing, managing distress, navigating grocery and clothes shopping, addressing independent and social eating, supportive meal therapy coaching, and tackling exposure challenges. She helps clients tackle fear foods and re-establish a healthy relationship with food and nutrition. Temily also facilitates peer support groups specifically designed for individuals recovering from an eating disorder and their support networks, creating safe and empowering spaces for participants to share their experiences and support each other in their recovery journeys. Additionally, she incorporates a broad range of mental health skills she has developed through her lived experience and professional training, empowering individuals to transform their mental health challenges into strengths.
Although specialising in eating disorder recovery, Temily also supports individuals with a variety of mental health diagnoses to foster healing and personal growth. She utilises techniques such as thought challenging, mindfulness, meditation, self-care practices, journaling, self-compassion exercises, and other therapeutic tools such as distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and grounding techniques to help her clients manage symptoms and build resilience on their recovery journey.
Temily is also currently undertaking her honours year in Psychology, with plans to complete her Master’s in Psychology. Her academic focus, combined with her hands-on experience, offers a comprehensive understanding of mental health recovery from both a personal and professional perspective.
With a background in secondary education, Temily also brings a compassionate approach to supporting young people in addressing their mental health needs to flourish and grow. Her commitment to active listening, advocacy, and a holistic approach to recovery makes her a valued member of the mental health community.
